AccuRadio
The self-proclaimed “next generation of radio” says it reaches 1 million unique listeners per month with its dozens of themed, online-only stations that have names like “Swingin’ Pop Standards,” “Classic Rocktopia,” and “Hey, We’re the Sixties.” The service is free and uses Windows Media Player. The audio is only at 32 kbps, which according to the company “makes for a good-sounding Internet radio station but is not a quality level that most consumers feel is a substitute for CD ownership.” Currently works only with Windows PCs, but Mac access is on the way.
